Who are we?
The Latin American Spanish School was developed by and is run by Nicaraguan instructors, most of them
are from San Juan del Sur. In L.A.S.S. we believe the best way to learn Spanish is with native speakers,
and a total immersion program. We beleive that the instructors are the most important connection between
you and the progress you make learning Spanish. That is why all our teachers are trained specially to give
you the best, and all of them are Spanish native speakers. What is more, they all have many years of experience
teaching our beautiful Spanish language to students like you and they enjoy what they are doing. When
you look back, you don't think about the time, because the learning is faster.
What are our Goals?
In the Latin American Spanish School, we are an enthusiastic group of professional Spanish teachers and staff who
only have one goal: to provide you with the highest quality Spanish language education and help you make the best
of your Spanish course in Nicaragua and Latin America. Latin American Spanish School is a COOP (co-operative)
owned by a group of experienced Spanish teachers in San Juan del Sur- Nicaragua. Oriented towards excellence in
speaking and understanding spoken Spanish, it also seeks to impart an awareness of the social, political, and cultural
realities of Nicaragua and Latin America.
Where are we?
Nicaragua, land of exotic and warm beaches where the sun shines all day long, crystal clear water, rugged and
tropical rivers, colonial cities, a rich history dating back to more than 6,000 years old, friendly and vivid people,
an impressive fresh-water lake - the only lake in the world that contains sharks, and five other salt-water aquatic
vertebrates. But ... where in the world is Nicaragua? Nicaragua is situated in Central America. It is the largest country
in the region with a land mass of 130, 668 km2,a little more than that of England. The country has a population
of some 5,000,000 comprised of the following ethnicgroups: Mestizos, Hispanic descent, African descent, and Amerindians.
San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
The Pacific Pearl
San Juan del Sur is situated in the Rivas Province. Rivas is an isthmus bordered by the Pacific Ocean and Lake
Nicaragua (Cocibolca). 142 km from Managua City, San Juan del Sur is an ideal place for surfers and seafood
lovers. It is one of the most popular recreational areas. The beach is sun drenched, clean and loaded with small bars,
restaurants, hotels and picnic areas where you can find delicious seafood dinners and pleasant music.
The bay, almost all of the time, is full of small fishing boats and it's one of the best places to get to know the fishermen
and perhaps go fishing with them. San Juan del Sur offers the ambience of a quiet port city in a bay which is a port of
call for cruise ships. The people of the city are very welcoming. You can go fishing, take a spin on a sailboat, scuba dive,
surf or wind surf. The beach of “La Flor” has the privilege of being one of the world's few egg-laying grounds of the
paslama (olive ridley) turtle. Thousands of these interesting creatures come here each year between July and January.
